MRN Tennis by Marina Rinaldi
MRN, the mini line of Marina Rinaldi dedicated from one season to another to a different sport, pays homage to tennis in SS21. Few sports have influenced the world of fashion like tennis. The immaculate elegance of the players at the start of the 1900s, the sophisticated femininity of the athletes in the 1960s and the sensual determination of modern days female tennis players: in every era, the style paraded on the court was subsequently transformed into ideas for new fashion trends.
The collection is principally inspired by the charm of the oldest tournament in the world which, since 1877, has been held on the grass courts in Wimbledon, in the outskirts of London. A temple of fair play, epic battles fought with strictly white gear and strawberries and cream enjoyed by spectators at the court’s edge.
A concentration of charm where the solid white converses with the grass green and the navy blue of the umpires’ uniforms combined, however, with an equally symbolic colour in this sport: the cornflower blue that distinguishes another key event for fans, the US Open tournament, scheduled for the end of summer in New York. A sequence of fresh, casual, practical garments has been created around this range of colours, ideal also for everyday wear with a cool balance of comfort and style.
The silhouettes are welcoming and always enhance the figure’s curviness. The skirts are longuette and pleated and could be worn with a pure Wimbledon mood cardigan with waist belt.
The trousers are soft and a sophisticated evolution of the after-training tracksuit. The outerwear alternates the mesh parka combined with the hooded raincoat.
The look is completed with leather sneakers with perforated logo, the same motif that can also be found on the white bag with contrasting profiles and striped strap, just like the belt.
